A RECORD number of undergraduate places have been offered by the University of Reading this year.
More than 5,037 new students have accepted places to begin courses in September, which exceeds the previous record of 5,026 at this stage last year. The University was able to offer more than 100 places through Clearing than in 2022.
The number of students who go on to enrol will be lower than this figure, as is the ase each year.
James Ackroyd, Director of Global Recruitment & Admissions, said: “2023 has been another strong year for Reading’s undergraduate programmes. It’s a great place to study and we are in high demand among school leavers.
“This has been our best market share of UCAS applicants in at least a decade, and has been followed by a very successful Clearing process, so far.”
Even before this year’s Clearing week, Reading had already received 11% more applications for undergraduate courses this year and saw an increase of 12% in firm acceptances.
Politics, economics and international relations, law, biological sciences, computer sciences and Henley Business School programmes were the most popular subject areas receiving Clearing offers.
Some courses are now completely full, but there are still some places available in certain subjects and applications can still be made through Clearing.
