A ONE-DAY family festival is set to make its return to Reading following its inaugural event last year.
The University of Reading is bringing back the University Community Festival following a successful first event back in May.
It brings together live music, theatre, performances, activities, and street food throughout indoor and outdoor venues, as well as sports taster sessions and walks through the university’s gardens and grounds.
Work from artists around Berkshire will be on display alongside research boards from academics, students, and community organisations.
The inaugural event’s main stage saw the likes of Sungura Magic, Vocal Networking, and South Asian performing arts group Kalakunj.
It also featured multilingual storytimes in Arabic, Mandarin, Greek, and Spanish, and Oxford Road Lifespring stories shared their work with visitors.
The Students’ Union building housed presentation boards where leading academics showcased their very latest research.
The university is also seeking community groups who might be interested in performing, offering a workshop or activity, or otherwise taking part.
Molli Cleaver, community engagement manager at the University of Reading, said: “The Community Festival is the perfect opportunity to bring together the University and the local community.
“We are particularly excited to be working together again with local partners to provide a jam-packed programme of exciting activities and entertainment.”
The University Community Festival takes place on Whiteknights Campus from 11am-5pm on Saturday, May 18.
