THE UNIVERSITY of Reading is seeking nominations for its upcoming volunteer awards.
The university’s annual Celebration of Volunteering Awards brings together staff, students, alumni and community partners to award, showcase and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to volunteer on campus or in their local community.
This year will see recognition in six categories: Staff Volunteer of the Year, Student Volunteer of the Year, Alumni and Supporter Volunteer of the Year, Reading Students’ Union Project of the Year, Students in Schools Volunteer of the Year, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Volunteer of the Year.
The winners will be announced at an evening event on Thursday, May 1, which will also include an exhibition and series of videos showcasing the variety of volunteering opportunities that colleagues, students, alumni, and supporters are involved in.
Last year, staff, students and alumni and supporters were recognised for volunteer work that included helping the elderly, addressing period poverty, and supporting refugees.
An online form is open to nominations, which also gives tips about what make a stand-out nomination.
Nominations close at midnight on Friday, February 28, and can be submitted via: reading.ac.uk/about/local-community
