A BERKSHIRE charity is set to host a free talk on October 23, entitled Crossrail: Expensive white elephant or runway success?, which will investigate if the Elizabeth Line has lived up to its £18 billion price tag.
Reading u3a will welcome guest speaker Christian Wolmar, an established writer and broadcaster specialising on national rail issues, who will deliver the free-to-attend session.
Crossrail, now known as the Elizabeth Line, officially opened in 2022 and is the newest railway line in the UK, offering connection from Reading through the centre of London and beyond.
Reading u3a is a ‘learning co-operative’ which helps those who have retired maintain active and engaging lifestyles .
The talk takes place at 2pm at Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square. Doors open at 1.30pm.
