TWO READING men have been jailed for stealing mobile phones from teenagers.
Ryan Rogers and Shaylun Wilson both pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery in a case that dated back to 2020.
The men carried out the robbery on two boys at the University of Reading on July 22, 2020.
Wilson was arrested on 27 July 2020 and Rogers was arrested the following day (28 July 2020). They were both charged on 1 October 2021.
Wilson, 23 and of Lock Place in Newtown, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on December 14 last year, while Rogers, also 23 and of Parkside Road on the Tilehurst/Southcote border, was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on Thursday, January 26.
Thames Valley Police’s case investigator, Victoria Burgess, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “Rogers and Wilson have been given a significant sentence following their conviction.
“I hope that the conviction and sentencing of these men will bring some closure to the victims.
“Thames Valley Police will continue to thoroughly investigate such crimes so that offenders can be brought before the courts to face justice.”
