TWO READING men have been jailed following a Thames Valley Police investigation into drug offences.
Shahzaad Ahmed, aged 42 and of Ripley Road, Reading, was jailed for four years after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, namely cocaine and heroin.
Mohammed Akram, aged 31 and of Winslet Place, Reading, was jailed for three and a half years after pleading guilty to the same offences at a hearing in Reading Crown Court on Friday, December 15.
They were also ordered to forfeit cash and phones and drugs associated with the incident were also destroyed.
It follows and incident on Tuesday, August 8, when officers witnessed the defendants engaging in a drug deal with another person in Waylen Street, Reading.
Officers subsequently stopped the vehicle that Ahmed and Akram were travelling in and conducted a search.
They found 14 wraps of heroin in the possession of Akram, and a further wrap of cocaine was found in the vehicle.
A search was then conducted of a property in Winslet Place, to which both defendants possessed keys, which uncovered a quantity of cash, drugs paraphernalia, and drugs with a street value of around £21,420.
Both defendants were charged the following day, Wednesday, August 9.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jon Nicholls, of the Stronghold team in Reading, said: “Our Stronghold team will proactively and robustly target drug dealers and bring them before the courts.
“We will use both overt and covert tactics to disrupt and pursue offenders in the supply of drugs in our town.
