Two men have been arrested following the rape of a teenage girl in Reading, Thames Valley Police has confirmed.
The girl was first approached by two men while walking on Oxford Road, near Beresford Road, shortly after 22:00 GMT on Saturday, 15 November. Police say she later walked with the men to Prince of Wales Avenue, between Elm Park Road and Albany Road, where the attack took place.
Officers have arrested two 26-year-old men, both from Reading, on suspicion of rape. They remain in police custody.
A public appeal was issued over the weekend for three people who came to the victim’s aid after the incident. Police say the woman who assisted the girl has now been identified.
However, detectives are still trying to trace two males – believed to be teenagers – who intervened and confronted the suspects on Prince of Wales Avenue at about 22:25.
Thames Valley Police is urging the pair, or anyone who knows who they are, to come forward. Those with information can visit a police station, submit details via the force’s website, or call 101, quoting reference number 43250584676.
