A REDUCED timetable will operate this weekend on the rail network as unions hold a two-day strike.

GWR, which operates trains from London Paddington to Reading and through to the west of England and Wales, warns that some parts of its network will have no service, or a limited service on Friday, September 1, and Saturday, September 2.

Those that do run will start later and finish earlier.

The company says that those who need to travel should check before setting out, and those services that do operate are expected to be busier than normal. There are no replacement buses.

As the strikes, by the Aslef union on Friday and RMT on Saturday, affect many rail companies, onward journeys could also be affected.

GWR says that passenger with purchased tickets can claim a full refund or amend a ticket if they do not travel. Those that do and have a train delayed by 15 minutes or more may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation.
