STEVENAGE manager Steve Evans believes his side should have been awarded two penalties in their League One defeat to Reading.
The Royals climbed out of the relegation zone by picking up just their second league away win of the campaign which came courtesy of a Vadaine Oliver’s own goal.
Boro manager Evans was displeased with the referee’s performance and claimed that his team should have had two penalties.
He said: “We had two clear penalties in the game not given. One for handball and the second for a reckless challenge on Ben Thompson. We looked back on it with the boys and they are clear.
“It’s a harsh result to take. Apart from counter attacks we’ve totally dominated the game and made four big chances.
“Normally the reliable strikers score the chances we create, but they didn’t.”
The Stevenage boss also complained about the conduct of some of Reading’s backroom staff as well as the celebrations at full-time.
He continued: “If we play like that most weeks then we will win games. You can see what it means to beat little Stevenage, it was World Cup stuff at the end.
“That’s part of football and we have to watch that when we don’t win the game.
“The elements turned against us at half-time, but we had enough good opportunities. We didn’t take advantage of it.
“They are brilliant supporters. They are very passionate on the bench which I have no problem with.
“There are little lines you don’t cross and I think not by Ruben (Selles), but it was crossed by two or three of his backroom staff to my staff and my players which isn’t really right.
“They are a club that are fighting for survival under a treacherous owner who took over from Sir John Madejski who ran his club with absolute class.”
