THEALE GOLF CLUB hosted a special Texas Scramble competition in memory of former deputy greenkeeper Tom Parker.

Parker was murdered at Reading Station in July 2022 in what was described by police as ‘an entirely senseless attack’.

The competition had a ‘shotgun start’ to ensure that all taking part would finish at the same time.

They were then able to have a meal before taking part in the auction that was held to raise funds for Victim Support- Homicide Service, which Tom’s parents said had been a great help in their grief.

The prizes for the auction were all donated, with many coming from other golf clubs throughout Berkshire. Club members who were not present, were able to make offers prior to the auction.
