JURASSIC PARK! Reading is to be taken over by dinosaurs this summer.

Reading BID (Reading’s Business Improvement District) and BRICKLIVE ae teaming up to bring 15 different dinos to the town centre as part of a free activity to enjoy during the summer holidays.

The trail will take place in venues across the town centre including The Oracle and Broad Street Mall, from Saturday, August 5, through to Sunday, August 20.

On display will be a Tethyshadros, which is almost three metres long, velociraptors that are 3.6m long and 2.2m high, a Pteradon with a wing span of almost 3 metres; as well as Diplocaulus (126cm long), Archaeoceratops (117cm long) and a Megalosaur head for selfies.

But anyone wondering if the creatures are created from DNA found in a prehistoric fly trapped in amber can relax: these dinosaurs are made of toy bricks and are strictly non-mobile. Phew.

And to give some idea of how intricate these creatures are, the Tethyshadros is made of 89,000 bricks.

Alexa Volker, Reading BID Manager, is looking forward to the Ding dino trail.

“It is a unique collection of dinosaur brick models that will provide an awe-inspiring spectacle for visitors,” she said.

“With amazing models including a large Velociraptor and Parasaurolophus, as well as smaller models like a Diplocaulus and Archaeoceratops, the trail contains some of the most extraordinary toy brick builds ever created.

“Visitors can experience first-hand what it would have been like to come face-to-face with these incredible prehistoric reptiles.”

The models are created by BRICKLIVE and the event is organised by Reading BID. It is not associated with the LEGO Group.

More information on the precise locations of each dinosaur will be available at: visit-reading.com closer to the time.
