A COMPASSIONATE carer who supports households through collecting and distributing food has been put forward for the Community Champion award.
Carolyn Wildman, who helps community hub SHARE Woodley, based at Emmanuel Church, and Woodley Lunch Bunch, also cares for her mother who has Alzeimer’s.
Her nominator said: “Carolyn has her own physical issues yet that does not stop her from helping households throughout the borough. Carolyn is constantly on the go collecting and distributing food and other items to those most in need and makes long-lasting connections with the households she supports.
“Carolyn is also a carer for her mum who suffers from Alzheimer’s, yet she never complains and finds the energy to support lots of projects on a daily basis.
“Her care-giving role demonstrates her immense love and dedication to family,” she added.
“Despite the demanding nature of these responsibilities, she manages to find time and energy to give back to the community, becoming a source of hope and inspiration for others facing similar struggles.”
The Community Champion award, sponsored by Reading Football Club, celebrates a person who works tirelessly in their community, in the voluntary sector, as a carer, for a community group or in public service who devotes their time for others.
Carolyn has also been nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award, sponsored by funeral directors A.B. Walker, which recognises an individual or team engaged in diverse and challenging tasks, or simply who have stepped up when needed to help others.
