Reading FC manager Ruben Selles has tasked his players to win as many games as possible in their quest for League One survival.
The Royals go into Saturday’s tie with Wycombe Wanderers five points above the relegation zone, but with the threat of more potential point deductions leaving them in desperate need of collecting points.
“We all know the things that have been around and all we can do is prepare the team to win tomorrow,” said Selles.
“The only way to do it is by being focused. We know we’ve had these setbacks with points deductions, but it’s not our job to think about it.
“Things can change from today to tomorrow so to look more than that is a waste of time and energy for us.
“I want to win every game. We prepare to win every game, it doesn’t matter who is the opponent.
“We only have one game (to focus on) and the other nine I don’t want to know about it. The focus is day to day, game to game.”
When asked about the possibility of future points deductions before the end of the season, Selles said: “You don’t really know, nothing can happen or it can happen that we have more points deductions and the speculation is just going to cause more stress.
“We have a lot of things going on. Maybe it can be like Everton where they can give us a couple of points (back), I don’t think it’s going to happen but it would be good from the EFL.
“We just need to do our job and win our football matches. The more we can win, the closer we will be to staying in this League.”
Selles was also questioned about any potential new ownership updates, but replied: “I have no new information at all.”
