ONE OF Reading’s pubs is settling in well following a change in management and a refurbishment, as new owners look ahead to Hallowe’en.

The Foresters Arms on Brunswick Street saw new owners take over earlier this year, followed by a refurbishment which concluded back in August.

Now the new owners are welcoming customers for weekly events, sports teams, and even a Sunday roast.

Manager Aiden said: “The previous landlady handed the venue back to the brewery, and then we took over.

“The opening weekend was very busy, with lots of new faces coming through, and has only continued every week, so it’s got going pretty well.”

Aiden also works with The Victoria in Tilehurst, and said: “We now do our own Sunday roasts through our other pub, and here we have a take-out service, though they can eat in-house if they want to.

“I think people are looking for something flexible like that: most people do eat in, but a few did say that it was a good option to be able to take it home.”

He continued: “People have said that the venue has changed a lot since they last came in, with an all-new paint job and furniture, and it’s more functional.

“We’re a dog-friendly pub, and we show all the sports channels, of course, we’ve got darts and pool teams, so we’re always looking for more members, as well as quiz nights on Thursdays, which are pretty busy.

“And every other weekend we will have events and DJs, including Hallowe’en and 80s-themed events, karaoke, and soul and Motown all coming up.”

The Foresters Arms is hosting its next karaoke night on Friday, October 13, as well as a Hallowe’en party on Friday, October 28.
