A WINNERSH school will be able to purchase much-needed rugby equipment for its pupils, thanks to a grant from Reading Rugby Foundation (RRF).

The sum of £1,500 was presented to The Forest School’s rugby programme by RRF trustee Mr. Spindler.

Ms. Austin, headteacher of The Forest School, said: “We are deeply humbled and delighted by this contribution from the Reading Rugby Foundation.

“The grant will have a hugely positive impact on our ability to continue to achieve our mission of ‘Aspire to become Elite’ for the girls and boys in our rugby programme.

“It will support future students to develop in the game, during school life and beyond. “It is great to be such a proactive partner for the future.”

The funding will enable The Forest School to enhance its rugby programme, providing students with better resources to learn and develop their skills.

This will not only benefit current students but also inspire future generations to take up the sport.

Mr. Quartermaine, head of physical education, said: “We are honoured by the support of Reading Rugby Foundation, which will enable our curriculum and after-school programme to be even more effective in developing student’s confidence, skills and passion for the game.”

The school hopes its enhanced programme will inspire students to pursue rugby beyond their school years.

Mr. Quartermaine continued: “We would like students to be enthused to join Reading Rugby Football Club or their local community club, to enjoy competitive games, and lead a healthy, active lifestyle.”

The school says that its partnership with Reading RFC and RAMS RFC highlights the importance of community involvement in fostering youth sports, and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle among young people.

It believes the grant represents a valuable investment in the future of rugby at The Forest School, empowering students to reach their full potential on and off the field.
