READING FC manager Ruben Selles has admitted that he would like ‘better’ communication from the club’s hierarchy regarding transfers of players.
It has been reported that the club has agreed a double deal with Luton Town to sell defenders Nelson Abbey and Tom Holmes without the knowledge of Selles or head of football operations Mark Bowen.
“The decision (on transfers) is always going to be made above my head,” said Selles.
“That should be clear. I can only speak for myself, not Mark Bowen, but you always prefer to be communicated with in the proper time to give your opinion and for that to be taken into consideration.”
Despite the deal not yet being finalised, Selles said that the club has accepted proposals for both players, while personal terms still need to be agreed.
He continued: “The information came a little bit late for us and I already expressed that internally.
“I think in those scenarios we can support the club better to get a better offer, get a better position and be part of the strategy from all of us to know what’s happening and what the next step for us is and our consideration for the next period.
“If we are losing two centre-backs, can we keep one?
“That means we need another centre-back, can we invest the wages in another player? Can we invest that money in another player in another position? Do we need to do it, do we not need to do it?
“I expressed that I would like to be more involved in those conversations.
“I have made my point and the communication should be better.”
