BROAD Street Mall is set to welcome a string of new performers for its second live music event this week.

Following its inaugural event last week, the mall is to hold a second showcase of musical talent and shine the spotlight on mental health issues.

Broad Street Beats will host performances from Luke Bates, Rose Elwood, and The Sepia Tone Folk Collective, with artists taking to the stage in the Central Square from 11am-3pm.

Broad Street Mall has partnered with The Rhoom Studios who will be supporting the event.

Visitors are also invited to a free workshop where attendees will craft their own festival friendship bracelets, once again hosted by arts charity Jelly.

As well as at the mall itself, BSM is hosting a number of online initiatives throughout August, including the chance to win a Headline Hamper through its social media competitions and curated Spotify playlists

The event takes place alongside a partnership with Every Little Thing Festival, raising awareness around mental health issues including mental wellbeing, and suicide prevention.

ELT Festival takes place every September in memory of Diva Gibson, who lost her life to suicide on May 10, 2020.

Broad Street Mall is highlighting the importance not only of mental health awareness but also the ongoing work of Sinead Gibson, Diva’s mum, as she supports those in need.

Steven Connolly, Centre Manager at Broad Street Mall says ‘It was incredible to see the community coming together on Saturday for our first Broad Street Beats showcase.

“The lineup of local talent was fantastic, and we were thrilled to see so many visitors enjoying the music and participating in crafting festival friendship bracelets.

“We’re looking forward to hosting a second acoustic showcase on Saturday, 24th August, and hope to see even more people joining us.”
