THE AMAZONS have just released their third studio album, How Will I Know if Heaven Will Find Me, which landed just one day after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Though the launch party was set for Thursday, September 8, the passing of the monarch meant that the show at Oakford Social Club was cancelled out of respect.

Despite this, the album went to number 1 in the iTunes charts only two days after it was released.

On Tuesday, September 13, The Amazons appeared at Oakford Social Club to perform an intimate, acoustic gig, playing songs from the album.

Ahead of the gig, frontman Matt Thomson posted to social media to say that while the album “obviously coincided with a strange moment in time for everybody, the album is still out everywhere – it’s most certainly here, and we are over the moon about that.”

“We Brits love our music, especially in difficult times – if our music could contribute positively to someone, somehow, somewhere this week, that would be a beautiful thing.”

They performed Wait For Me, How Will I Know, and Say it Again, closing with Bloodrush.

Matt also explained the album’s artwork, which uses a photograph by then-15-year-old Brazilian boy, Bruno.

He explained to the crowd that: “A couple of years ago, Bruno was on holiday in Canada, visiting his uncle.

“He’s not photographer, he doesn’t have a camera – his uncle lends him a camera, and so he goes out and shoots this image.

“One single image which he puts on an open-share website, where it’s seen by a band from Reading, England, who are tearing their hair out, and it spoke to us.”

He says that the band got in contact with Bruno and sent him a camera so that he can continue to explore photography.

After the performance, the band stayed to chat with the audience and sign CDs and Vinyls brought by fans.

The Amazons are set to begin their tour of the album in Dublin on Wednesday, October 5, before a string of shows around the UK.

After their UK tour culminates at London’s Roundhouse on October 20, the band will move onto shows in Canada, the USA, France, Germany, and The Netherlands.
