THAMES Water has launched a new interactive service t o help customers report issues.
The utilities provider has announced its new visual interface for customers to report potential pollution, sewerage flooding, blockages, and leaks in an online service.
The reporting tool will show users an interactive map which they can use to pinpoint exact locations of issues.
It also provides space for specific reports of issues, which they can also support with evidence by uploading photographs and videos to the service.
It runs alongside a further tool which maps out the current expected and ongoing works being undertaken by Thames Water for customers to consult.
Once an issue has been reported, the issue is scheduled for investigation by the operational software, and acted on by engineers where necessary.
It follows the company putting forward its 50-year plans back in the summer, during which it explained that leakage, water demand reduction, and temporary drought measures will make up around 80% of the shortfall in water supply it has forecast.
The new service looks to minimise the consequences of leaks and reducing the time it takes to fix them.
David Bird, retail director at Thames Water, said: “We’re delighted our new online map has gone live–as a company we are committed to connecting with our 15 million customers and improving the service we provide to them.
“With this new tool, customers can report issues in a fast and simple manner that works for them.
“We’re also excited members of the public are now able to report pollutions they spot online.”
He added: “Our aim will always be to try and do the right thing for our rivers and we’re grateful to anyone who takes the initiative to tell us about a possible pollution.
“Time can sometimes be a crucial factor in turning a minor issue into a major one.
“We’re making it as quick and easy as possible for people to report something when they see it, because the sooner we can get to a problem the better.”
