A BERKSHIRE charity has been nominated for a prestigious award for its podcast.
Thames Valley Positive Support’s (TVPS) HIV Podcast has been nominated for an Audio & Radio Industry Award (ARIA).
Through its podcast, the charity explores living with HIV to tackle stigma about the condition, and signposts other resources.
It has been nominated for an Impact award, which recognises programming which makes a difference in society, “embodying the idea of radio as a force for good.”
It is the only independent podcast nominated in that category, and the podcast is entirely written and produced by the hosts, Sarah Macadam and Jessica Harding.
They are now set to attend the award ceremony at the Theatre Royal in London on Tuesday, May 7.
Since it was launched, the podcast has been listened to in 176 countries.
Ms Harding said: “The HIV Podcast refuses to adhere to the outdated narrative that is forced on HIV, of being something shocking or scary. Ironically what makes The HIV Podcast so radical, is just how ‘normal’ it is.
“A weekly podcast where talking about HIV is done in the same way we talk about weekend plans.
“Normalising HIV is the only way we are going to reduce HIV stigma–to even be recognised in this category, alongside some people who are making such a difference to the world, is unbelievable.
“We are beyond proud.”
