THAMES Valley Police has announced the launch of this year’s Community Policing Awards, celebrating exceptional individuals who go above and beyond to keep communities safe, connected, and supported.
The awards commend officers, staff, volunteers, and community members whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact over the past year.
This year sees nominations in nine separate categories: Community Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Special Constable, Diversity and Inclusion Champion, Cadet, Volunteer, Community Volunteer (which goes to a member of the public), Problem Solving and Prevention, and Inspirational Leadership.
Last year’s winners included Maidenhead-based PCSO Jason Miller, who was named Diversity and Inclusion Champion for his work building trust between the police and the Muslim community in Maidenhead.
TVP says that his efforts worked to change a once tense environment into a place of mutual respect and collaboration.
One member of the community said of him: “Jason makes a conscious effort to break down barriers between police and the public.
He does this not because he has to, but because he wants to – and anyone who knows him can see the passion and are inspired by his work.”
Molly Dixon from Buckinghamshire was awarded Cadet of the Year, was recognised for her “unwavering” commitment to mentoring fellow cadets and supporting community events, even while facing personal challenges.
On winning the award, she said: “It is a great pleasure to serve and help my community and I hope in the future I can make a difference.”
Thames Valley Police is seeking nominations for each of the categories.
Each nomination should include detailed examples of how the nominee has made a difference, helping them stand out to the judging panel.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 18.
