THAMES Hospice has reopened its a popular branch following a major upgrade.
Residents joined staff and volunteers at Thames Hospice to celebrate the grand reopening of the branch in Woodley on Friday, December 2.
The event was also attended by the mayor of Woodley, Cllr Janet Sartorel, who declared the updated and expanded store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Julie Rowley, Director of Retail at Thames Hospice, said: “We were thrilled to reopen the doors to our shop in Woodley and were ecstatic with the warm reception from the local community.
“We would like to thank the Town’s Mayor, Councillor Janet Sartorel, for joining us and sharing her very kind words.
“Thames Hospice has been part of the Woodley community for over 14 years and we are so grateful for their ongoing support which enables us to continue to provide vital income for local families living with a terminal illness.”
The store took more than £6,000 in its reopening weekend– enough to fund 11 days of specialist nursing care support.
The refreshed branch now offers pre-loved clothes and accessories, including a dedicated menswear and children’s clothes department, books, media, toys, games, and even home furniture.
The shop is now open from 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday, from 10am-4pm on Sundays, and is currently still seeking volunteers to join its retail team.
Thames Hospice has been providing inpatient and community palliative and end-of-life care services to people aged 16 and over across East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for 35 years.
