A NEW Thai diner is preparing to open in Reading town centre, as an empty store comes back to life after 10 years.
Jackson’s closed in December 2013, but its name lives on thanks to its famous Jackson’s Corner signage. The shell of the building is being converted into a mixture of retail and flats.
A hair accessories store has already opened, and now signage for Rosa’s Thai has appeared on the corner unit.
The company specialises in noodles, curries and small plates. It also serves hot, cold and alcoholic drinks, including cocktails.
The hoardings have messages such as “Reading, get ready to Tuk Tuk In” and “Sawadee Reading” which is the Thai word for hello.
Two years ago, Rosa’s submitted a licensing application to serve food and alcohol from 11am to 11.30pm on Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10.30pm on Sundays.
The application was approved by Reading Borough Council.
A spokesperson for the company said they were currently unable to confirm an opening date or how many jobs would be created.
Rosa’s Thai food was available three years ago as part of a ‘Deliveroo Editions’ partnership, which only functioned on a temporary basis.
