Table tennis: Sonning & Common Peppard A breeze past Kingfisher D

In Division 1 Gary Morgan and Neil Huirford both got trebles as Sonning Common & Peppard A won 8-2 at Kingfisher D, Kingfisher’s Julian Telford beating Jason Roberts, while Graham Mendick also grabbed a win over Jason.

Mo Cook, Steve Murgatroyd and Phil Davenport all got maximums as Our Lady of Peace won 10-0 against bottom side Tilehurst RBL A, while Phil Mead’s hat trick and a double from Nigel Keedy saw Kingfisher B triumph 7-3 at Tidmarsh A.

In Division 2 Kingfisher E’s Clive Gold had to retire, following a serious injury in the first set, conceding three points to club mates Kingfisher G.

Neil Dellar, Satej Jaywant and Hamid Mohseni all proceeded to each win a further singles set, Neil & Satej also taking the doubles, this enabled the G team to win 7-3, Andrew Adair winning twice and Abhay Gore defeating Satej.

Reading FC A emerged victorious from their top of the table clash with Sonning Sports A, winning 6-4 thanks to a treble from Mike Childs, a double from Wayne Alleyne and a single from Tony Alleyne, Wayne defeating Nick Sears 13-11 11-9 11-4, in the 10th set to guarantee the win.

Nick earned his single by beating Tony 11-5 11-5 9-11 12-10, Paul Savage also winning twice, and although Bob Woodmansee was unable to add to his wins, his closest contest possibly the 5-11 9-11 10-12 loss to Tony, Sonning’s fourth point was courtesy of their doubles win, as Nick & Paul beat Mike & Wayne in another top of the Averages battle.

Our Lady of Peace B defeated Tidmarsh C 7-3, in a closely fought contest, Darek Kaminski recording a maximum while Dave Godfrey and Alistair Richardson both recorded two wins, Ian Wu beating Alistair, in the opening set, 6-11 11-9 11-1 4-11 11-5 and Simon Craig beating Dave.

Ian & Simon also overcame Alistair & Dave in the Doubles, to earn their third point, Richard Hudson losing all three although he came close with his 9-11 18-16 11-2 7-11 7-11 defeat by Alistair.

The match between Sonning Common & Peppard D and Kingfisher F ended in a 5-5 draw, Danny Dockree with a maximum for the Commoners, Mark Jones earning his one win by defeating Eapen John after he partnered Danny to a doubles win over Ajai Kamath & Eapen, Kingfisher’s points courtesy of a single from Eapen, when he beat Jon Abbott 9-11 14-12 11-3 9-11 11-5 in the opening set, with Roger Pritchard and Ajai both only losing to Danny, Roger securing the draw by beating Jon 11-4 11-9 11-9, in the final set.

Kingfisher I strengthened their grip on first place in division 3 with a 9-1 victory at OLOP E with Etan Zeng getting a very good maximum, Morgan Sykes played well for OLOP and won their one set beating Rishaan Sawant 11-9 in the fifth after an excellent comeback from the Kingfisher youngster.

Pangbourne WMC took advantage of second placed Tilehurst RBL B not playing to leapfrog them in the table with an 8-2 win at OLOP D. Clive Taylor got yet another maximum for Pangbourne but was made to work hard for it by a spirited OLOP performance.

OLOP’s Parvin Baishkiyar won twice and Max Griggs looked like he would beat Clive Taylor before losing in five.

Milestone stayed in fourth beating OLOP D 6-4 but this result did not help their outside promotion chances.

Zoltan Kelemen had a maximum for Milestone and Simon Brookes played well to win two for OLOP, set of the night was Sachin Mundra’s very close win against Mark Carless which he just edged 12-10 in the fifth.

Kingfisher H won 9-1 at Springfield with the highlight of the night being Springfield’s Marcello Caramma beating Muharrem Aydin 11-7 in the fifth.

Qing Wu and Alona Slobodskoy both got trebles as Our Lady of Peace F moved into second place in Division 4 after winning 9-1 at Milestone B.
