Hari Gehlot and Martin Adams both held off the challenge of Sonning Sports David Croucher to get maximums as Kingfisher A beat Sonning Sports A 9-1.

Hari beating David narrowly in three games 13-11 12-10 14-12. David gained a consolation win against Dmitry Karkhamov 11-5 11-5 12-14 12-14 11-8.

Tilehurst RBL A managed a fine 6-4 win at Kingfisher D thanks to doubles from Keith Winter and new recruit Marc Brent and a single from reserve Kate Maksimenko who beat Cath Venning 11-7 11-6 6-11 11-7. Graham Mendick got a maximum for Kingfisher.

Unbeaten Our Lady of Peace A had to battle hard for their 6-4 win over Kingfisher B, Ian Cole, Justin Mead and Mo Cook all winning twice with Justin just beating Phil Mead 5-11 11-3 7-11 11-6 11-9.

For Kingfisher, Martin Pugh had a good 11-8 11-6 4-11 9-11 11-9 win against Mo Cook on his way to a double.

Prayrit Ahiuwalia got a maximum as Kingfisher C edged Tidmarsh A 6-4, Duncan Groves winning a marathon encounter for Tidmarsh after he beat Daniel McTiernan 11-4 7-11 9-11 12-10 16-14.

With new signing Sachin Mundra in the team Our Lady of Peace C recorded a good 8-2 win at Kingfisher E. Binit Bhasker got an impressive maximum and Sachin Mundra and reserve Parvin Baishkiyar both won twice.

The sets of the night were Parvin’s 11-8 win in five against Clive Gold and OLOP coming back from two down to win the doubles in five. Tidmarsh B also played at Kingfisher and came out on top against their F team 7-3 with Barry Carter getting a three straight maximum and Dale Ballard also recording a maximum.

Although he was pushed close by Kingfisher’s Ajai Kamath before winning 11-3 in the fifth. Another of Ajai’s sets also went to five and this time he just came out on top defeating Francois Durand 13-11 in the decider.

Tilehurst RBL B lost for the first time, although it was close with Kingfisher G just edging the match 6-4.

Andrew Adair was the star player for Kingfisher with a very good maximum including an impressive win in four against Kate Maksimenko and beating Peter Bradley 12-10 in the fifth.

Tilehurst Meths A hosted Sonning Common & Peppard D and the Commoners just edged a win 6-4 despite a good maximum from Tilehurst skipper Eric Van Looy which included inflicting the first defeat of the season on Danny Dockree beating him fairly comfortably in four.

The closest set of the night was a battle of the Jones’s with Tilehurst’s Phil beating SC&P’s Angus 12-10 in the fifth.

After a rather quiet week last time, week three had a busy schedule in division three with five matches from Monday to Thursday.

Tidmarsh C came up against a strong looking Springfield A team and they could not stop Springfield A’s captain Jason King from maintaining his 100% record with another maximum as Jason steered his team towards a good 7-3 victory, also helped by a Peter Gurney treble. Another match at Tidmash was between Tidmarsh D and Kingfisher H.

It was a very tough match which could have gone 6-4 either way; however, at the end of the night it was Kingfisher H who grabbed a small 6-4 winning margin.

The match took almost four hours as there were very long rallies and five setter matches. It was a very exciting match as four players got two wins which clearly shows how close the teams were.

Our Lady of Peace E beat Tilehurst Methodists B 6-4. Parvin Baishkayir managed yet another maximum to help his team. Unfortunately, Nigel Rowland could not play his last two matches due to illness for Tilehurst. We hope he is better now and will play safely in the upcoming games.

The last match of the week saw Pangbourne WMC win 6-4 against Our Lady of Peace D despite missing a player.

The highlight of the match was an excellent comeback from Graham Stark against Leroy Wilson to win 10-12 5-11 11-7 11-7 11-8 .The doubles was even closer, with the final point coming from an edged high lob off a smash to give the Pangbourne pair of Leroy Wilson and Clive Taylor a 4-11 12-10 11-6 15-13 win.

Tilehurst Methodists C had a nice 6-4 win over Sonning Common & Peppard F in their Division 4 match with Steve Wood and Steve Christelow both gaining doubles. For Sonning Common Mike Casserley hit a superb hat trick. Tilehurst Royal British Legion C beat Springfield B 7-3 with Geoff Johnson recording a three straight maximum.

Sonning Common & Peppard E had a good 8-2 win over Our Lady of Peace G with Anthony Reeve winning all three, while Sonning Sports C beat a two player Kingfisher I team 7-3. For Kingfisher Walter Aldridge was in top form by gaining a maximum.
