A COMMUNITY fundraising walk for Thames Hospice saw more than 700 supporters step out together.

The charity’s annual Sunflower Walk supports families facing one of life’s most difficult times, at the point when a loved one needs hospice care.

The event took place this year on Sunday, starting and finishing in the Thames Hospice gardens.

People of all ages and stages took part, with large groups, families, and plenty of furry friends.

Walkers could choose a 2.5k, 10k, or more challenging half-marathon route, with many reflecting on precious memories of their loved ones while embracing the vibrant atmosphere.

Together they raised more than £68,000 for Thames Hospice.

Sponsoring this year’s event was workplace design and build company, Blue Jelly.

“We are incredibly proud to have sponsored this year’s Sunflower Walk,” said Cat Morgan, head of marketing at Blue Jelly.

“It was a privilege to support an event that brings the community together for such a vital cause.

“The enthusiasm and dedication of the walkers were truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to see the fantastic amount raised to help the Hospice continue its essential work.”

On crossing the finishing line, walkers received a medal from Thames Hospice ambassador Sue Holderness, and were then able to enjoy a barbecue, refreshments, and entertainment in the hospice gardens.

“The atmosphere on the day was truly heart-warming,” said Emma Andrews, senior events fundraiser at Thames Hospice.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who walked, volunteered, and donated.

“We’re now so close to our goal of raising £70,000, and every donation will help us reach that target.

“The support we receive from our community, and partners like Blue Jelly, and Jack and Zoe from The Creative Mole who spent the day engraving walkers’ medals with loved-one’s names, is absolutely vital in ensuring we can continue to be here for everyone who needs us.”
