THAMES VALLEY Police has issued an urgent call for people to stay inside during Storm Eunice.
High winds expected until 9pm today, and are predicted to continue into the weekend.
Berkshire is currently under a red warning from the Met Office for dangerous winds.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Across the Thames Valley we are still seeing members of the public outside.
“We urge residents to stay indoors as much as possible. The Met Office have provided guidance on how stay safe during a storm.”
Police have been called out to multiple incidents involving damage to buildings, road disruptions and people becoming injured in the storm.
The spokesperson added: “We have seen a significant increase in calls to the police force, we are therefore reminding the public to only to call 999 in an emergency so those in need can be responded to quickly.
“An emergency is classed to be an immediate threat to life or property.”
In a non-emergency situation, residents have been asked to call 101, or make a report online.
Fallen trees can be reported to National Highways if on a major road, and the local authority if on smaller roads.
It is anticipated that there will be average winds of 60mph to 70mph and gusts will be up to 80mph, and winds of 40mph to 50mph to continue throughout the weekend.
