A STORE selling sporting clothing and goods is preparing to move location in Reading town centre.
Sports Direct, which is currently in what was the former Boots store on Broad Street, is hoping to take over the former Woolworths store further up the street.
In recent years, the store was occupied by Swedish homewares firm Clas Ohlson, but the company has pulled out of the UK market. Reading had been its last location.
The firm’s signage has been taken down, exposing the former Woolworths logo.
Sports Direct has applied to Reading Borough Council to have its branding, and that of subsidiary USC Clothing, approved.
Its application can be viewed by logging on the council’s planning website and searching for 230590.
