ON MONDAY, Queen Anne’s School had the honour of welcoming a celebrated World Cup winning former England Rugby head coach, for an engaging afternoon with staff and students.
Sir Clive Woodward spoke to the Sixth Form and scholars, his talk, DNA of a Champion, sharing invaluable insights from his coaching career and leadership across rugby, football, and the Olympic programme.
Students had a unique opportunity to explore the principles and mindset that Sir Clive credits as the foundation of success, both on and off the field.
Key topics included the importance of thinking correctly under pressure, 3D learning, and the qualities required to become a true champion.
These themes resonated deeply with students, providing them with tools to excel in their own areas of interest and aspirations in life.
Adding a special touch to the day, Sir Clive was joined by his daughter, Jess Woodward, a Queen Anne’s alumna (Class of 1998–2005).
Jess enjoyed a nostalgic tour of the school led by Upper Sixth students, Lara and Molly.
She was thrilled to discover that her long-standing swimming record, set over two decades ago, remains unbeaten—a testament to her remarkable achievements during her time at Queen Anne’s.
Andy Towse, Deputy Head Pastoral at Queen Anne’s School, shared his appreciation for the visit: “We are incredibly grateful to Sir Clive and Jess for taking the time to visit us.
“Sir Clive’s lecture was truly inspiring, and he also led an excellent workshop with selected staff, offering practical and insightful strategies for driving success and innovation in education.
“It was a privilege to have them both back at Queen Anne’s again.”
The school extends its heartfelt thanks to Sir Clive and Jess Woodward for an unforgettable afternoon of inspiration and connection.
