A road in Tilehurst remains closed nearly five months after a sinkhole opened up.
The sinkhole caused a collapse in Oak Tree Road that meant the road had to be closed near its junction with Chepstow Road, Armour Hill and Westwood Road.
Although neighbours are able to access their homes, drivers are unable to pass through the obstruction to make onward journeys towards Tilehurst.
The sinkhole appeared on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. According to roadworks site One.Network, the closure will remain in place until Friday, March 1.
A meeting is due to take place this week to inform neighbours about an upcoming project to fix the damage, and to reopen the road.
Councillor Mark Keeping said: “Remediation of the fault that has closed Oak Tree Road for so long will begin soon.
“You can meet council officers, councillors and consultants from Stantec who will provide some engineering background, and an update on the stabilisation works and programme which will commence later this month.”
The meeting will be held from 12noon on Thursday, January 18.
