A SHOPPER was sexually assaulted and had strands of hair cut off as she left a Reading town centre supermarket.
Now, Thames Valley Police has released CCTV images of a man they’d like to speak to as they attempt to catch the perpetrator.
The incident took place just before 3.55pn on Wednesday, July 7.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was leaving the Sainsbury’s store in Friar Street when the man touched her inappropriately over her clothing.
When she challenged him, she noticed he had cut strands of hair and clothing from her.
Investigating officer PC Sally Meineke, based at Reading police station, said: “This incident occurred in the middle of the afternoon in a busy area of Reading.
“I am releasing these CCTV images of a man who I believe may have vital information about this incident.
“I am urging this man to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 43210292993 or contact us online.
“I would also appeal to anybody who recognises this man or believe that they witnessed the incident to please get in touch.”
She added: “You can also report 100% anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“The victim was not injured in this incident, but naturally this was a distressing occurrence.
“Anybody who has any information, please get in touch with police.”
