GARDENERS keen to stock beds and allotments will soon be able to revisit a borough store.

Shinfield Garden Centre will be back just in time for spring.

Now under new ownership with British Garden Centres, the team has announced the date of its new launch, and invites local gardeners and residents to come and explore the store.

The UK’s largest family-run garden centre group acquired the former Dobbies site, in Hyde End Road, in January and has been working hard with the existing and new members of the Shinfield team to restock and reopen the store and restaurant.

Emily Bartholomew of British Garden Centres said: “Shinfield Garden Centre is back and better than ever.

“We can’t wait to welcome the local community to our grand opening weekend.

“Come explore the new store, meet our team, and discover everything you need for your garden and home.

“With opening deals, special offers, and a fantastic range of plants and products, it’s the perfect opportunity to get your garden ready for spring.”

There will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening launch, with the first 100 customers through the doors on Saturday receiving a goody bag filled with gardening treats.

The store team will also be on hand all day to sign people up for a family card scheme which will give customers 10% off their first shop and unlock benefits and special promotions.

Celebrations continue on Sunday, when another 100 goody bags will be given to the first customers as they enter the store.

Shoppers will also be able to take advantage of opening week offers and deals on garden and home products.

Visitors will notice a number of changes to the garden centre, including an expanded selection of plants, sundries, and garden ware, and a new Fern Living outdoor furniture range, exclusive to British Garden Centres.

The restaurant has been revitalised to include a more comprehensive menu, and retail partners Julian Charles, Amazon Windows and the florist will return to the store from Tuesday, April 1.

Owned and led by The Stubbs family, British Garden Centres was launched in 1987, and now operates 72 centres around the country.

The Shinfield store’s official opening takes place over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 1, and the store will remain open until 6pm that day.

On Sunday, March 2, doors will be open from 10 am until 4.30pm.
