The Shinfield 10k will return next month for its annual event, and there is still time for runners to sign up.

This year’s race takes place on Monday, May 6 with a start time of 9.30am, hosted by Reading Roadrunners and sponsored by Honeysuckle Day Nursery.

The road race sees competitors tackling a fast and undulating route based from the School Green.

Shinfield caters for the whole family and will also be hosting a Junior Cross Country event.

There are four junior races which will all take place after the 10k. Blue for ages four to six which will be 2.1k. Green for ages seven to nine, also 2.1k. Red for ages 10-12 across 2.1k and yellow for ages 13-15 across 4.1k at Langley Mead.

Entry in advance for the junior races is £5 or £7 on the day and all finishers will receive medals.

Race organiser Colin Cottell said: “It’s a great event that is supported so well by the local community. We’re expecting another strong turnaround this year and are still encouraging people to sign up.

“For anyone who’s not taken part in the event before, it’s a great event for all of the family to get involved in with our junior races as well as the 10k.

“It’s a lovely atmosphere with people cheering you on throughout the course.”

The race will cost UKA affiliated runners £17 in advance of £21 on the day and £19 in advance for non-affiliated runners and £23 on the day if there are places left.

Entries to sign up close on Thursday, May 2.
