A READING charity is opening its doors to the community for its annual Christmas event.
Sadaka is inviting residents to its annual Christmas Lunch Service to enjoy good food and company.
The event helps those who might otherwise go hungry during the Christmas period, or those feel lonely, by providing a warm meal and the chance to socialise with others.
It will also see the Fairview Community Centre decked out with festive decorations and Christmas gifts distributed among attendees.
Last year’s annual event took place on Christmas Day, alongside its weekly meal services and social events.
The charity has also worked to help residents with finding work through up-skilling and job help events through the Sadaka Project in 2021.
Since it was set up in 2017, the charity has brought together volunteers of all faiths to bring support to residents in need.
It has also established Sadaka Wellbeing, which provides a safe space for individuals to relax and take part in social and community activities.
Shazia Fazal, Trustee for Sadaka, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, and Sadaka is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those facing loneliness and financial hardships during the festive season.”
The Sadaka Christmas Lunch Service takes place at Fairview Community Centre, Great Knollys Street, from noon on Saturday, December 23.
