Reading manager Ruben Selles said that his side changed the momentum in their 2-2 draw against Cheltenham on Thursday evening after going behind early on in the first half.
He said: “No team plays a perfect 100 minutes and, obviously, situations change. I don’t think we were in the game for the first 40 minutes but then we changed the momentum.
“In the second half it was a different game and we defended well and defended the set plays that we needed to. I think we were competitive until the very end and I am proud of our togetherness.”
There was another injury update on Andy Yiadom who missed out yet again in the matchday squad, with the manager saying he is unsure if he will play on New Year’ Day.
Previously Selles had said that Yiadom was close to a return but then faced a setback in his recovery.
Selles said: “I don’t know, it’s going to be difficult because he is on a slow recovery and his knee is still sore, so it’s going to be difficult for him to be available for the next game.”
The manager thanked the 1,516 fans who travelled to The Completely Suzuki Stadium for their support on the road yet again and admitted that the team are trying to reward them.
He said: “I think the fans have been really important for us in every single game away from home, where we have a bad day like today, they are the main motivational part for us, cheering us on.”
“They need to keep doing that, it is fantastic their support. We want to deliver more results and points back for them.”
The Royals will try to continue their unbeaten form on New Year’s Day with a home fixture at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, where they will take on Exeter.
