THAMES Valley Police has confirmed the identity of one of the two bodies recovered from Rowe Court, Reading.
They were recovered from the building and were taken to hospital on Monday, January 31 for a post mortem. The first has been formally identified by HM Coroner as 45-year-old man, Neil Morris.
The identity of the second person remains unconfirmed following the major fire which broke out at the property on Wednesday, December 15.
Mr Morris’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
They said: “Neil was a dearly loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend and has been taken from us too soon, and in such a tragic way.
“The family are devastated and ask that they be allowed to grieve in private at this very difficult time.
“The family also ask that Neil’s memory is given the privacy and dignity he rightly deserves.”
Thames Valley Police said that its major crime unit is continuing its investigation into the incident and one man has been charged in connection with it.
Police officers and contractors will remain at the site for the coming weeks while it remains a crime scene and the building is safely dismantled.
The dedicated webpage for people wishing to make a financial donation to support residents displaced by the fire remains open.
