A FUNDRAISER is set to return after a successful 2022 event, with a view to support families struggling from food insecurity in Reading.
The Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh’s 13th annual Art and Craft Fair takes place at Oakview, Leighton Park School from October 27-29, with local artist Wendy Mercer set to exhibit her works.
Up till now, the event has raised more than £60,000 in support of community projects in the Reading area. This year, the theme is once again food-related as the rotary club continues its work with Feeding Communities, who provides nutritious meals to support families in need.
Working alongside the Thomas Franks Foundation chefs at Leighton Park, the rotary club has provided 2,500 frozen meals to food banks and food surplus projects across Berkshire.
At the event, artists donate 25% of their income from sales at the fair to help support the project.
An Art Fair Preview will give visitors an opportunity to see and purchase art and craftworks between 5pm-7.30pm on the Friday. Tickets are £10 and include a drink and canapes, made and served by the Inner Wheel Club.
Entry is free over the weekend, with exhibits open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
The Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh was founded in 1989 and currently has 38 members. It has raised more than £500,000 for local and international causes since its inception.
It serves the communities in East and South Reading including Sonning, Wargrave and Twyford. It meets every Tuesday evening at various locations.
