A NIGHT of rockabilly is promised when the Graveyard Johnnys come to Reading later this month.
Club Velocity and New Mind Promotions are teaming up to bring the band to The Face Bar.
The group were founded by Tom Lord and Joe Grogan in 2008, and their first self-produced single, Streetblocks and City Lights, was played on the Radio 1 Punk Show.
This exposure, the band said, caused every pressing of the single to sell out.
This was followed by further appearances in the BBC Studio for various sessions.
The Graveyard Johnnys continued touring, which led to the wear and tear of two full-time guitarists and saw different guitarists step in.
It wasn’t until the Graveyard Johnnys tour bus died on the 2011 European tour that Tom and Joe decided it was time to take a break from touring and focus on the studio album.
Songs from Better Days was the result.
The gig is a chance to hear some of their much-loved music.
Supporting them will be Henry And The Bleeders, a young and wild quartet that combine a very unique blend of authentic Rockabilly, R&B, Hillbilly and 80s Psychobilly, loaded with raw Punk energy.
And there will be a set from Planet Strange, some well-respected Billy Punks from Bristol.
It all takes place from 8pm at the Chatham Street venue on Saturday, September 23.
Tickets are £13, and available by searching for Graveyard Johnnys on www.wegottickets.com
