MORE THAN nine in ten employers at a job fair in Reading found suitable candidates for vacancies, Reading’s Economy and Destination Agency has reported.

The recent Reading Job Fest saw more than 1,000 job seekers and 29 local businesses in attendance, including AWE, P&G, The Range, the University of Reading, and Reading Borough Council.

Seven local suppliers also attended, including Smartworks, Adviza/NCS, Brighter Futures for Children and New Directions, to provide support and guidance to job seekers.

Of the businesses there, 92% reported that they had found suitable candidates for vacant positions.

Of those who had stalls, 100% said they would recommend the event to other employers.

The event took place at Reading Town Hall on Tuesday, September 24, with the next event set to take place in Spring next year.

Sue Brackley, Economic Development Manager at REDA, said: “This was a brilliant event for employers and job seekers alike. REDA has been organising and funding Job Fests with DWP since 2011.

“We’re proud of our track record in bringing the biggest and best attended employment event to our town, matching the recruitment requirements of local businesses with Reading’s diverse workforce.

“One of the key strengths of the Job Fest is how it brings so many local partners together and that’s something we’ll want to keep doing for many years to come.”
