De Vere Wokefield Estate has been awarded a gold accreditation in the Green Tourism certification programme.

The award recognises the commitment of tourism businesses which are actively working to become more sustainable.

The hotel, near Mortimer, focuses on three key pillars to help improve sustainability, which includes its day-to-day operations, the people at the heart of the community, and its supply chain.

It uses 100% renewable energy and relies on a combination of biomass, wind, hydro and solar, to power the hotel.

Peter Sangster, venue director at De Vere Wokefield Estate, said: “Achieving the gold Green Tourism award is testament to the hard work and passion to consistently improve sustainability at De Vere Wokefield Estate.

“The team is constantly striving to implement new sustainable practices and it’s rewarding to be recognised by Green Tourism as they’re acknowledged worldwide as the hallmark of sustainability quality.”
