ORGANISERS at Readipop Festival have announced that the event is not going ahead next year amid industry pressures.

Readipop posted to social media to announce that the festival will be taking a fallow year in 2025, despite a successful event back in July.

Organisers have explained that they have struggled with rising costs which affect much of the live music and events industry and that costs for this year’s events were “significantly” more than its income.

As Readipop is a charity, the team has noted that because this has had an impact on the organisation’s charitable work.

This means that Readipop will take time to re-evaluate how the festival works.

They also announced the opening of newly-refurbished studios at Trafford Road, which will be marked with a launch event next year, with further details to be released soon.

A statement posted to the Readipop websites said: “The team at Readipop know that many of you have been waiting for an update about Readipop Festival 2025 and we want to thank you for your patience while we thought long and hard about our options.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Readipop Festival will be taking a fallow year in 2025.

“Despite being successful in 2024, it is becoming increasingly difficult to put on an event of that scale for such a small charity and team.!

It explains: “We tried to keep ticket prices down during a time of financial difficulty for many, but like many other events, we have struggled with the rising costs and other challenges that occurred post covid.

“The 2024 festival costs were significantly more than our income–this has an impact on the rest of our charity work, so we’ll be taking time to re-evaluate the structure and inner workings of the festival to make it more effective for everyone involved.”

“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone – our incredible audience, dedicated volunteers, talented performers, generous sponsors and valued partners – who have supported the growth of Readipop Festival over the past eight years.

“This summer’s festival was an incredible event, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

“Your support means everything to us as a charity and helps support the community projects we do year round.

“If you can, please consider supporting Readipop Charity via a donation to our Local Giving account, or by showing up to our Christmas Hootenanny and other events over 2025–your involvement makes a difference.”

Full details of upcoming events and more information about its charity work are available via: readipop.co.uk
