IT may have won awards for its environmental research but Reading University is a loser in love.
The Whiteknights campus failed to make the grade when it came to the most romantic places to study in the UK.
While York University graduated with top marks as the best place to meet a partner, Reading could not even manage a D-minus.
A study by the Knowledge Academy, a global training company, saw Reading flunk the love list.
As many students start university this month, the study suggests 63% of those studying in York are a class above when it came to extra-curricular studies.
However, 85.51% of relationships are short term, less than one year, so they are likely to graduate to a replacement partner by their second year.
More than 3,500 students across the UK took part in the survey which placed Manchester University in second place with one in five people ending up marrying the person they met during their studies.
Bristol University which has a reputation for a quirky, creative and vibrant campus came third with students engaging in numerous short- and long-term relationships.
According to the study it appears students at Reading University prefer to spend their time studying.
A spokesperson for parents of students at Reading University smiled: “We welcome the findings”.
