READING FC are aiming to end a winless run of six Championship games when they host Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
The Royals go into the game knowing that if their barren streak continues that they could get dragged into a relegation fight.
Paul Ince’s team are currently in 18th position on 38 points, nine points above the drop zone.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s opponents are very much in the midst of a relegation battle.
The Millers are in 20th position on 33 points which puts them just four points above 22nd.
Despite being perilously close to danger, Rotherham have put together a run of four games without defeat with a win and three successive draws.
Matt Taylor’s side have drawn their last two matches 0-0, earning an impressive point against promotion pushing Sheffield United before they added another point away to Blackpool on Saturday.
Reading will still be wihtout Mamadou Loum, who is sefving the second game of his two match suspension. Lucas Joao will also miss out with a knee injury, while Tom Holmes remains a doubt having missed out at Sunderland.
Rotherham ran out as comfortable winners in the reverse fixture at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in August.
It was a first-half rout and an afternoon to forget for Reading, and in particular goalkeeper Joe Lumley, who endured an uncharacteristic nightmare performance.
Rotherham flew into a three goal lead after just 18 minutes with goals from Richard Wood, Conor Washington and Jamie Lindsay,
Chiedozie Ogbene piled on the misery to make it 4-0 before half-time as Rotherham completed a stunning first-half display.
Despite limiting the damage in the second-half, the game was gone and Reading were left dismayed having been thumped by a newly promoted team.
However, Reading were victorious the last time Rotherham visited Berkshire, in October 2020.
Goals either side of the break from Yakou Meite put the Royals into a commanding position before Lucas Joao netted a penalty in stoppage time to seal a 3-0 success.
