AS PART of its 900th anniversary celebrations, Reading School is hosting an evening of music.
Its four houses—East, School, West, and County—will be taking to the stage in a unique Inter-House Music Competition at the Concert Hall, Reading Town Hall.
This year’s event brings together distinguished alumni who first discovered and developed their musical talents at Reading School.
Many of them have gone on to achieve success, with some performing professionally in the West End and beyond, yet are returning to share the stage once more with fellow Old Redingensians.
For some, it will be the first time in decades that they reunite to rekindle the musical bonds formed during their school days.
All ticket proceeds will support Reading School’s Beyond 900 Campaign, contributing to the redevelopment of Expressive Arts facilities, a new Sports Hall and improved Sixth Form provision.
East House alumni reunite after 40 years to perform Vivaldi’s Double Trumpet Concerto, plus a cappella, big band and Les Misérables’ “Do You Hear The People Sing.”
School House will bring a mix of Ed Sheeran, Back to the Future, and a ‘Piano 8 Hands’ performance.
West House will present Bob Dylan classics, John Williams’ Raiders of the Lost Ark, and jazz standards with alumni and current students.
County House will blend everything from Slovenian folk music and classical chamber duets to “Smooth Operator”.
The Old Redingensians’ House Music Competition takes place from 6.45pm on Sunday, September 21 at the Concert Hall in Reading Town Hall.
