MONDAY JANUARY 20 UPDATE HERE: https://rdg.today/thames-waters-apology-for-water-pressure-back-to-normal-in-the-coming-days/
READING has faced a second day of problems with water pressure, with some homes now reporting they are without water.
Others have low pressure, and are unable to get hot water as a result.
Yesterday, Thames Water set up stations in Calcot and Tilehurst to give out bottles of water to affected households, following a problem at the Pangbourne treatment works.
Deliveries were made to vulnerable customers.
Residents across the town are affected by the problems, which were first reported yesterday (Saturday, January 20).
Thames Water says the affected postcodes are in the RG1 and RG30 areas, and it has a team of engineers on site at Pangbourne attempting to fix the problem.
In a post on its website, the water firm said: “We’re sorry if you’re still experiencing no water low pressure.
“It is due to airlock in our mains and our team been on site to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
“We know how inconvenient it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can.”
The problems have been made worse by leaks across the network, with Newtown residents reporting issues at the junction of Wokingham Road with Eastern Avenue.
Thames Water has published a webpage detailing what to do if you are without water. It can be found at: https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help/get-extra-help/priority-services/water-supply-interruptions
