READING Pubwatch is marking two decades of maintaining standards in the town’s venues with a celebratory conference next week.
Pubwatch is an opt-in initiative which sees venues and organisations collaborate on keeping customers safe and venues to a high standard in the nighttime economy.
Key stakeholders such as Reading Borough Council, Thames Valley Police, and Business Improvement Districts work with venues, owners, and staff to maintain standards of safety, reduce crime, and to promote best practise for businesses.
It is now set to celebrate 20 years of operation with a conference, sponsored by Reading’s Business Improvement District.
It will feature contributions from guest speakers Michael Kill, CEO of the Nighttime Industries Association; Stephen Baker OBE, chair of National Pubwatch; Berkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber; and Licensed Trade Director at HIT training Jeremy Scorer.
The mayor, Cllr Glen Dennis, will also attend to give a speech, alongside Reading Business Improvement District’s Alexa Volker and Cllr Jason Murphy of Reading Borough Council.
The Pubwatch 20th Anniversary Conference takes place on Tuesday, September 10, at Revolucion de Cuba, Friar Street.
Registration takes place from 12.30pm, followed by a buffet at 1pm, and the conference begins at 2.15pm.
