READING is set for its very own duck tales and organisers and hoping not for the worst of messes, but plenty of successes and good luck.
Members of the Rotary Club of Reading Abbey will be holding a duck race around The Oracle Riverside on Saturday, September 9, with cash prizes for the winners.
A whole day of entertainment is planned before the race takes place.
Starting at 10am, there will be games and family-friendly stalls set up around the Riverside area of the Reading town shopping centre. During this time, people can sponsor a duck ahead of the race which starts at 3pm.
The ducks will be set off from Bridge Street, heading along the Kennet and Avon Canal to the Queens Road Car Park.
Each of the plastic beaked bath toys will have a unique number, and organisers say each has an equal chance of winning.
First over the finish line will net the sponsor £300, second will get £200, and third place will scoop £100.
Money raised from the event will go towards charities in the Reading area supported by the Rotary Club.
