A serving Thames Valley Police officer has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation by the force.
PC George Johnston, 27, who is based at Reading police station, was charged by postal requisition on 11 December with one count of assault by penetration of a female aged 13 and over.
The charge relates to an alleged sexual assault on a woman at an address in Woodley, near Reading, on 3 November 2024. Police said PC Johnston was off duty at the time of the incident.
The alleged assault was reported to police on the same day. PC Johnston was suspended from duty the following day and remains suspended.
He is currently on conditional bail and is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, 9 February.
Thames Valley Police said misconduct proceedings had been initiated and would be concluded following the outcome of the criminal case.
