Changes are coming to a busy supermarket for shoppers in Caversham.
The Co-op in Henley Road is undergoing essential changes that will see new conditioning units for the fridges and other equipment installed.
That is just one of the planning applications that have been decided by Reading Borough Council recently.
Elsewhere in Caversham, a plan to replace a bungalow has been approved.
Meanwhile, a plan to convert office space above shops in Tilehurst has been refused, and a project to bring a large office building in the town centre back into use has been withdrawn.

New plant equipment for Co-op in Caversham (PL/25/1663)
The Co-op has won permission to add an extension and install an external air handling plant at its store in Henley Road.
A previous plan was refused last year due to its excessive scale and plot coverage, unattractive appearance and an absence of soft landscaping, with the planning officer at the time judging that it would result in a visually stark, overly dominant and overdeveloped character within the site.
The Co-op subsequently underwent a redesign, which included soft landscaping, and was approved on March 25.
Justifying the project, a planning agent argued it would facilitate an increase in stock at the store.
Replacement Caversham home approved (PL/25/1100)
The owners of the Moorings in Upper Warren Avenue have won permission to replace it with a two-storey house.
While a plan to replace it with a modern home was approved in April 2023, the owner’s vision for the project changed in favour of a more traditional-style home.
The revised designs were approved by the council’s planning department on March 24.
The new home will come with four double-bedrooms on the first floor, and sizeable living quarters with the potential for an extra bedroom on the ground floor.
Conversion of huge town centre office to education use withdrawn (PL/25/1827)
A project to bring a large five-storey office building in Reading town centre for mixed office and education use has been withdrawn.
The Anchorage is located at the end of Bridge Street, occupying a prominent position opposite The Oracle.
A plan to make internal changes from the first floor onwards was submitted in December.
However, the application was subsequently withdrawn on March 26.
Office conversion into flats refused (PL/24/0866)
A plan to convert offices above a former bank in Tilehurst has been refused.
The owner of 74 School Road, which was occupied by Natwest until June 2023, wanted to convert the space above it into two one-bedroom flats.
But the owner failed to draft a developer agreement to pay the council to provide affordable housing elsewhere in the borough.
The project, which was submitted in 2024, was therefore refused on March 26.
