A READING man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for burglary and fraud.
Daniel Lokes, 48 and of Basingstoke Road, was found guilty of a count each of burglary of a dwelling and fraud by false representation.
He was found guilty by unanimous jury verdict at Reading Crown Court at a hearing which concluded on Tuesday, January 23.
He was given a sentence of three years and two months’ imprisonment at the same hearing.
It follows an incident on November 19, 2022, when, at around 6pm, Lokes gained antry to a property in The Mount, Reading, and stole items including car kays, bank cards, and food.
The occupants were at home at the time but were upstairs and unaware of Lokes’ presence.
He had already left the scene and purchased alcohol with the stolen cards in a nearby shop before the occupants were aware that a burglary had taken place.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Brandon Morley, based at Reading police station, said: “This is a very serious offence in which the victims’ rights to feel safe in their own home has been violated.
“The conviction and sentence shows the seriousness of Lokes’s actions and will hopefully deter any future offending.
